ESTIMATES ARE THAT ONLY ABOUT 10% OF ALL PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SYMPTOMS OF CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME ARE IN THE PATHOLOGICAL STAGE. ALL OTHERS ARE IN THE EARLIER STAGES OF PROGRESSION. NO MATTER WHICH STAGE YOU MAY HAVE REACHED, GENERALLY EVERYONE CAN BE HELPED, WITHOUT THE RISK, DISCOMFORT OR FINALITY OF SURGERY!
In fact, ârelease surgeryâ rarely cures carpal tunnel syndrome. What happens is the surgeon cuts the ligament in the bottom of your wrist. That releases the pressure on the nerves, muscles, tendons and the other tissues that pass through the carpal tunnel. Thatâs the reason itâs called ârelease surgeryâ. But, the same as the wrist cuffs and other devices out there, it doesnât remove the source of the problem, so when the incision heals, the problem still exists. PLUS NOW YOU HAVE ADDED SCAR TISSUE TO THE EQUATION! Does that seem to be a reasonable approach to solving your condition?
HOW CAN I MAKE MY CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME GO AWAY?
Before we go any further, letâs make sure we are clear on the following:
WHEN PERFORMING THIS TREATMENT MODALITY, DO NOT â I REPEAT â
DO NOT EVER TRY TO MANIPULATE THE SPINE IN ANY WAY!
DOING SO WITHOUT SPECIALIZED TRAINING CAN RESULT IN PERMANENT DAMAGE, INCLUDING PARALYSIS! DONâT DO IT!
Keep in mind there is not a ârightâ or âwrongâ way to do what youâre about to learn. You will soon discover that there are methods of application that seem to work better for you. When you discover those methods, stay with what works.
Also, remember that in the beginning, you will probably be very tender after the first one or two treatments. This is an indication that you have begun the process of removing the catabolites from your muscle fibers. The tenderness is completely normal and will go away. In fact, if you are sore, very gentle repetition of the same treatment that made you sore will help to make it go away. Drink plenty of water before, during and after treatment sessions. A hot shower or bath or some time in the hot tub immediately following each treatment session will be a big help.
Important note: In the beginning, you may see bright red areas develop, especially where you discover and treat trigger points. These areas look like bruises, but generally are simply areas where you have begun removing catabolites from the muscle fibers. The reddening is caused by the copious amounts of blood flow into the areas that had previously not been open to receive the nutrients necessary to recover. Keep in mind, however, that some people, in rare cases, do bruise easily. This is one of the reasons you should check with your healthcare professional before you begin, to make sure itâs ok for you to get massages. If you bruise easily, it may be a symptom of something that would cause tissue manipulation to not be a good idea.
Also, when you treat trigger points in your shoulders or upper back, donât be surprised if you feel a tingling or mild burning
